Setting up Atmocube

Ethernet | PoE Connection Setup Guide

Atmocube provides Ethernet connectivity support via the Ethernet port on the device with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability included.

Note: Not all Atmocube versions support Ethernet connectivity. Please verify the SKU version before proceeding. Ethernet-compatible Atmocube versions will have an Ethernet port on the back of the device.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Insert the Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the backside of the device. A click sound should be heard when placed correctly.

If Power over Ethernet is desired, please make sure the ethernet connection is PoE IEEE 802.3at 13-W PD Type 1 compliant. If the connection is PoE capable, Atmocube will power on after the Ethernet cable is inserted into the Ethernet port. If the connection is not PoE capable, Atmocube can be powered on using the TYPE-C USB cable provided with the device.

  1. Once Atmocube is powered on, the power status LED will turn a solid green color. The network status LED will be blinking blue to indicate that the Atmocube is ready for connection. If the Ethernet cable is connected to Atmocube before the device is powered up, the network status LED will indicate the network status immediately after power up.

For more information on Atmocube LED statuses, please refer to Atmocube Status Indicators

If the network uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), the network connection will be completed instantly. In the event that no internet/IP is detected on the network, the network status LED will illuminate with a solid red color after flashing green initially.

If the network uses static IP addressing, the Atmocube configuration tool should be used to set up the network connection.

The network status LED will flash in green while Atmocube is connecting to the cloud server and eventually turn solid green when the connection is successfully completed.

Using Atmocube configuration tool to configure Static IP networks

  1. Select the model code (SKU) for the Atmocube from the drop-down selection menu on the Atmocube configuration tool page.
  1. Open the LAN configuration menu by clicking on the “LAN” tab.
  1. Select “Static IP” from the drop-down menu.
  1. Enter the network details to the applicable fields on the Atmocube configuration tool, including:
  • IP
  • Subnet mask
  • Gateway
  • Primary DNS
  • Secondary DNS
  1. After all details have been entered, click on the “Generate config” button to generate the configuration file.
  2. Save the generated config.json file to the root of a USB flash drive formatted with the FAT file system.
  3. Disconnect Atmocube from the power source (if powered on).
  4. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB-A slot in Atmocube.
  5. Re-connect Atmocube to the power source.
  6. Once the Atmocube is turned on, Atmocube will access the config.json file from the USB flash drive. The power status LED will turn a solid purple to indicate that the USB flash drive has been detected.
  7. If the configuration is successful, the network status indicator LED will turn a solid green color.

After the configuration is successful, remove the USB flash drive from Atmocube.

Should you run into connection issues, please consult your ISP or IT admin to clarify connection requirements.
