What is Fitwel?

Fitwel is a global building certification system focused on optimizing buildings to support occupant health and well-being. Originally developed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the General Services Administration (GSA), Fitwel provides guidelines and strategies to enhance health-promoting environments in various building types. fitwel.org

Does Fitwel require continuous air quality monitoring?

Fitwel encourages continuous air quality monitoring as a strategy to maintain optimal indoor air quality (IAQ). Projects can choose between periodic IAQ testing or implementing continuous monitoring systems to meet Fitwel's IAQ assessment criteria.

Which pollutants do you need to monitor to comply with Fitwel?

To comply with Fitwel's IAQ standards, buildings are required to monitor the following pollutants and environmental parameters:
Mandatory:
  • Particulate Matter (PM2.5)
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
  • Temperature
Optional (select at least three):
  • Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC)
  • Relative Humidity
  • Ozone (O3)
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO)
  • Formaldehyde (CH2O)

Each pollutant has specific threshold limits that must be met to achieve compliance.

Does Atmocube measure pollutants required by Fitwel?

Yes, Atmocube measures all the pollutants required by Fitwel's IAQ standards:
  • Particulate Matter (PM2.5)
  • Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
  • Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC)
  • Formaldehyde (CH2O)
  • Relative Humidity
  • Temperature
  • Atmospheric Pressure

Additionally, Atmocube can be upgraded to monitor Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Ozone (O3), covering all optional pollutants specified by Fitwel.

How frequently does Atmocube take measurements?

Atmocube takes measurements at 1-minute intervals for all monitored parameters, providing real-time data to ensure continuous indoor air quality assessment. Thus, it meets the requirement to have a data output of at least once every 5 minutes.
