Advanced Setup

Setting up 10+ Atmocubes

Step-by-step guide on how to setup 10+ Atmocubes with Atmocube cloud dashboard

Option 1. Power up using USB Type-C, 5V. Connect to local Wi-Fi or your LTE Wi-Fi hotspot

What you’ll need

  1. A 5V USB-A power adapter for each Atmocube (not included in the box) and a Type-C USB cable (included in the box).
  2. A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router or a portable LTE Wi-Fi hotspot (not included in the box)
  3. For wall mounting, a drill guide, screws, and anchors (included in the box); a drill, and a 5 mm drill tip (not included in the box). Alternatively, the device can be placed on a shelf or table
  4. Atmocubes
  5. Android or iOS smartphone
  6. Photos of building floor plans (optional)

Preparation takes 15-25 minutes (steps 2-3), and each Atmocube setup takes 10-15 minutes (steps 4-8)

Step 1. Select the locations where Atmocubes will be installed. In general, we recommend the most densely populated areas; check if the location has a power supply nearby (socket or USB 5V) and internet access; avoid placement near windows, doors, air conditioning, air supply, and air humidifiers for better accuracy. Check the placement guide.

Step 2. Create an organization at https://atmocube.app (Atmocube Dashboard) Add locations, floors, and floor plans (5-15 minutes). Try to add one Atmocube using the Quick Start Guide.

https://atmotube.com/atmocube-support/quick-setup-guide (5 minutes)

Step 3. Use your smartphone's mobile browser to log into your Dashboard account. Install the Atmocube Wi-Fi setup app (5 minutes).

Step 4. Ensure you have Wi-Fi access for the Wi-Fi on each floor. If not, we recommend using any portable LTE Wi-Fi hotspot (presetting a portable LTE Wi-Fi hotspot will usually take around 5 minutes per unit).

Step 5. Go to the spot where you want to set up Atmocube, power it up, set it up via the Atmocube Wi-Fi setup app, and connect it to Wi-Fi. Copy the Device ID and go to the Atmocube Dashboard in your mobile browser. Click Add Device and enter Device ID. Name the device so you don’t mix it up with other devices. (5 minutes per device)

Optional. Place the device on the floor plan so you can easily find it later. (1 minute per device)

Step 6. If mounting an Atmocube on the wall, you must drill two holes. Screws and anchors are included. For convenience, you can use the drilling guide included in the box. (5 minutes)

Step 7. Repeat until you have all the Atmocubes set up.

Step 8. Go to the Dashboard and check if you can get real-time readings (1min)

Option 2. Power up using USB Type-C, 5V. Connect to a Wi-Fi network covering the whole building

Note: This option saves time if the whole location shares the same Wi-Fi credentials

What you’ll need

  1. A 5V USB-A power adapter for each Atmocube (not included in the box) and a Type-C USB cable (included in the box).
  2. A building-wide Wi-Fi network with the same Wi-Fi credentials
  3. For wall mounting, a drill guide, screws, and anchors (included in the box); a drill, and a 2 mm drill tip (not included in the box). Alternatively, the device can be placed on a shelf or table
  4. Atmocubes
  5. Android or iOS smartphone
  6. USB-flash drive (FAT formatted)
  7. Photos of building floor plans (optional)

Preparation takes 20-30 minutes (steps 2-3), and each Atmocube setup takes 5-10 minutes (steps 5-10)

Step 1. Select the locations where Atmocubes will be installed. In general, we recommend the most densely populated areas; check if the location has a power supply nearby (socket, USB 5V, or PoE) and internet access; avoid placement near windows, doors, air conditioning, air supply, and air humidifiers for better accuracy. Check the placement guide.

Step 2. Create an organization at https://atmocube.app (Atmocube Dashboard) Add locations, floors, and floor plans (5-15 minutes). Try to add one Atmocube using the Quick Start Guide.

Step 3. Use your smartphone's mobile browser to log into your Dashboard account. Install any QR code scanner app on your smartphone (5 minutes).

Step 4. Go to https://config.atmocube.app/ to generate a configuration file (config.json) and download it onto a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive (Note: you can edit the Wi-Fi password later on by opening the configuration file in a text editor). (5 minutes)

Edit the correct Wi-Fi SSID and password via a text editor if you haven’t done it.

Step 5. Go to the Wi-Fi coverage area, e.g., in the facility manager's office. Insert the USB flash drive into the Atmocube first, then turn the device on. Atmocube will use the configuration file to connect to the Wi-Fi network automatically. (Note: Atmocube will remember Wi-Fi credentials only if the connection was successful.) (1 minute)

Using the QR code scanner app on your smartphone, scan the QR code on the back of Atmocube and copy the Device ID to the clipboard. Using your mobile browser, go to https://atmocube.app/devices/add and paste the code into the Device ID field (or you can enter the Device ID manually). (2 minutes)

Name the device so as not to mix it up with other devices, and place it on the floor plan so you can find it easily later on. (1 minute per device).

Check that the device is sending data to the Dashboard after 1 minute.

Step 6. Repeat step 5 for all the devices.

Step 7. Go to the spot where you want to set up Atmocube and power it up. It will connect automatically. (1 min)

Tip! To better visualize where each Atmocube should be placed, go to https://atmocube.app/devices in a mobile browser. You will be able to see the device names, device IDs, and floors. Go to Edit Device to see its location on the floor plan)

Step 8. If mounting an Atmocube on the wall, you must drill two holes. Screws and anchors are included. For convenience, you can use the drilling guide included in the box. (5 minutes)

Step 9. Repeat until you have all the Atmocubes set up.

Step 10. Go to the Dashboard and check if you can get real-time readings (1 minute).
