Atmotube uses the best sensors, including a unique multi-gas sensor with ultra-low power consumption, high sensitivity and fast heating times. Advanced algorithms enable support for gas discrimination, temperature & humidity drift compensation, and self-calibration. It can be used as a CO2 equivalent sensor to represent CO2 levels in real world environments, where the main cause of VOCs is from humans.

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. In fact, they may be emitted by a wide array of common products, including paints and lacquers, paint strippers, cleaning supplies, varnishes and wax, cleaning and disinfecting products, building materials (plywood and particleboard), furnishings, office equipment, glues and adhesives.

VOCs can cause eye, nose, and throat irritation as well as headaches, loss of coordination, and nausea. They may also cause damage to the liver, kidney, and central nervous system. Some are suspected or known to cause cancer and asthma.

Indoor air quality is not generally monitored, even though people in developed countries spend approximately 90% of their time indoors. Chris Stiffler, founder of Vicinity Health, a proposed product to predict the onset of asthma attacks, died of an attack at his home. Why? Because homes are usually unmonitored, and the concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) indoors typically exceeds those outdoors.

A toxic gas, colorless, odorless, tasteless, and initially non-irritating, is very difficult for people to detect. Sources of carbon monoxide include cigarette smoke, house fires, faulty furnaces, heaters, wood-burning stoves, internal combustion vehicle exhaust, electrical generators, propane-fuelled portable stoves, and gasoline-powered lawn mowers. Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when you breathe in even small amounts of the gas, causing headaches and dizziness. Chronic exposure to carbon monoxide and volatile organic compounds has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, liver and brain damage, and even cancer.
